Prediction: Rumor Will Come True

January 23rd, 2007 @ 12:25:03 AM

The internet is abuzz about  the possibility of , my favorite band of all time,  “The Police,” reuniting this year  and doing a world tour.  Its the 30th anniversary of the Roxanne release which  made them popular in the  states way back when.

Currently there is alot of misplaced tidbits, but I found some interesting congruencies.

1. This
2. Sting has nothing to do on Grammy night.

3. Sting is done with his European concerts by mid March. By this time the ticket pre sales should be doing nicely and then they start their touring.

I’ll be there, wherever that may be. Hmm, maybe I could follow the band like alot of Dead Heads do?

Bird Flu Back: In Japan

January 18th, 2007 @ 9:19:11 PM

The bird flu path is shaping up. They said it would get to Japan then the migratory birds would fly to Alaska and then through Canada. Then finally down to California and possibly spread to the east coast of the US.

The avian influenza that broke out last week at a poultry farm in Miyazaki Prefecture involved a highly virulent virus, the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry said Thursday.

The National Institute of Animal Health, which identified the virus as the highly pathogenic H5N1 strain on Tuesday, drew the conclusion after eight chickens inoculated with the sampled virus were dead by Thursday, the ministry said.

Based in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture, the institute will continue genetic analysis for the consideration of the ministry’s panel of experts.

The H5N1 strain, a subtype of the influenza A virus circulating basically in birds, has spread mainly in Asia and has killed more than 160 people in 10 countries since 2003, according to the World Health Organization.

Prediction: Shooting Sizemore Wins Emmy

January 9th, 2007 @ 10:23:17 PM

I just saw the first episode of Shooting Sizemore on VH1 and haven’t watched a program on TV that was this compelling…ever.

Many shows on the tube will never grab the attention of the viewer the way this show has for me and I’m going to guess others too.

I’m predicting an Emmy win. People like a good story, but love a comeback story more.

Ancient Ice Shelf Spells Disaster Looming

January 3rd, 2007 @ 9:31:24 AM

A giant ice shelf the size of 11,000 football fields has snapped free from Canada’s Arctic, scientists said. The mass of ice broke clear 16 months ago from the coast of Ellesmere Island, about 800 kilometers (497 miles) south of the North Pole, but no one was present to see it in Canada’s remote north.

Scientists using satellite images later noticed that it became a newly formed ice island in just an hour and left a trail of icy boulders floating in its wake. (Watch the satellite images that clued in ice watchers)

Warwick Vincent of Laval University, who studies Arctic conditions, traveled to the newly formed ice island and could not believe what he saw.

“This is a dramatic and disturbing event. It shows that we are losing remarkable features of the Canadian North that have been in place for many thousands of years. We are crossing climate thresholds, and these may signal the onset of accelerated change ahead,” Vincent said Thursday.

In 10 years of working in the region he has never seen such a dramatic loss of sea ice, he said.
