To Google and Gmail Coders

March 22nd, 2007 @ 8:01:57 PM

Thank you so much for what you do with Gmail. I really love the service. I’m writing this today to tell you how much I like that rotating ad at the top of my inbox. Although you give a $h%load of exposure to Engadget, I want to thank you for rotating in some stuff like this.

I always seem to screw up these two buttons when calculating whatever it is I’m calculating.

PS Don’t change a thing. Good luck with the lawsuit. Have a great summer.

Iran Continues To Play Chicken

February 13th, 2006 @ 7:05:50 PM

Iran has started to inject uranium feedstock gas into centrifuges at its Natanz nuclear facility, crossing an internationally agreed “red line” on the path to producing the material for atomic weapons.

A senior diplomat from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that researchers at the republic’s pilot enrichment plant in central Iran had taken the crucial step, signalling a major escalation in the long-running face-off between Tehran and the West.

Iran has publicly pledged to resume its suspended nuclear programme before the United Nations’ watchdog meets in Vienna next month to discuss possible UN Security Council action, which could include sanctions.

The diplomat said Iran had not yet fired up the whole 164-centrifuge cascade but had begun to load some centrifuges with the raw uranium hexafluoride (UF6), which can then be purified into enriched uranium.

I’m Back - Dint Dint - I’m Back

October 31st, 2005 @ 10:09:36 AM

Get up offa that thing and dance till you got power!

Well I don’t have power, but I do have internet access. Wilma was kind to my house and my family. Lost a fence, major pool debris, lost a portion of baby gate fencing, lock broke off on a different fence, and lost some trees. We were fully prepared with supplies ranging from food and water to baby supplies. Our car’s gas tanks were filled to capacity before the storm and this turned out to be a real life saver.

The biggest and most important item after a hurricane is gas. Second would be cash. This list is for able bodied people though. You can take care of everything if you have gas and cash.

A gas station near my house had an 8 hour gas line. I saw national news trucks reporting, so you might have seen them on tv at this 4 pump Hess station working off a generator.

I’m going to just come right out with this prediction that at least 45% of the trees in Broward County fell over outright and at least 75-80% of trees were severly damaged. The tree damage is unbelievable.

Going to the grocery store as well as other stores was kinda surreal. No lights and people didn’t stick to their traditional “grocery store patterns.” It was an observers paradise.

I want to thank all the power companies who have lent South Florida their manpower and trucks. I don’t know who they are except Pike electric. I seem to see their trucks everywhere and I do know some Canadian power company is also pitching in from a news blip I caught on tv.

Power is so important that I wish it wasn’t.

Hurricane Wilma Will Hit My House

October 23rd, 2005 @ 4:17:09 PM

If I don’t post for awhile it will be because I lost power, not because I don’t love you, despite what you’ve heard.

I have a feeling that when Wilma hits the west coast of Florida it will drop to a CAT 1 or really low CAT 2. Its about a 1 hour drive from the east coast to the west coast. Thats alot of land for this storm to cover so I’m expecting a significant decrease in wind speed and severity.

The news services always play the safe side and says the worst is happening, however, I’ve lived here all my life and probably have watched over 4 gazillions hours of storm tracking. Thats 3.9 gazillion more hours than the weather man they just picked up from Omaha, Nebraska.

Steel shutters are a pain in the ass, I gotta get the accordion shutters instead. If my roof blows off, I can always drive somewhere safer, but I don’t want to forget my newly purchased Belgian Beers. So those will be coming with me.

Hurricane Wilma

I picked up a Grundig Emergency Radio from RadioShack in case the power goes out. Its got a rechargeable power crank. So this radio and my Belgian beers will go with me if I have to run.

*Note I had to use MSPAINT, lol. Laptop usage.

Updated the Forums

October 16th, 2005 @ 9:22:02 PM

With the flurry of activity we are seeing lately at I Called It, I decided to upgrade the forums. You may have noticed the 10 minute downtime. You may not have. If you missed it, well lets just say you haven’t lived until you’ve seen the “upgrade message.”

Prediction: Flash Memory for Hardware

October 8th, 2005 @ 7:21:45 PM

On 4-27-2003 solo posted: How about Flash memory…
Instead of hard drives? This would be a boon, especially for laptops, because of the significant weight savings; not to mention the speed over a mechanical device. It seems that the price of flash memory is artificially high right now, but the technology seems to be just about ready for hard drive capacities.

Anyway… That’s my prediction (say; within 5 years, or so) and I’m sticking to it

ICalledIt Regulars Listen Up and Listen Good

September 28th, 2005 @ 2:44:47 PM

Do you want an author account? Let me know either PM or contact me.

You will have freedom to post, however, if you get screwy I’ll have to moderate your posts. You don’t want that. Why you ask? The voice inside your head says. Well, I’m lazy, and if you goto moderation its likely to stay there or get deleted. So don’t get screwy–yeh I said it twice.

I predict I will have to create at least 1 author account for someone.
