I predict I will vomit shortly.

Yech -- when will the Jays ever have a nice logo?

Its not their fault they have a silly logo. What type of logo do you expect for a team named after a bird like that??? ;)

What would you propose as the new logo?

Anyway, why are the called the Blue Jays? Is it some type of small bird that is found in the State the team play in or something?

The "state" of Toronto, Canada.:) And I do think that the Blue Jay species is indigenous to the locale.

BTW, I predict this is the first (an easy prediction) and last (only marginally more risquee call) time that I, Meliz, ever post in a sports-themed thread.

My theory is also that new logos are simply money-generating ploys. Nuttin wrong with the old one, of course, except that too many people have the caps and t-shirts. And they are becoming more and more Disney-fied as the years go on. This bird could be a cartoon cousin of Donald Duck.

Oh Meliz, you are so right -- the Europeans, and esp. the British, have suffered through this phenomenon for years. I believe that Ennead's beloved Manchester United FC switches uniforms (or their 'kit') everytime they need to buy a new player. And it was widely claimed that Real Madrid bought Beckham from them largely to sell shirts. Of course, the lowest rung of intelligent life is occupied by those who comment on sports, but I think in this case they have been right: Before Madrid bought him, I had seen a few RM shirts, but now I see them everywhere.

The Jays have gone through a million different looks since 1977, and all of them have looked like crosses between softball and hockey jerseys. This new logo is no different. As much as I hate them, give me the Yankees' uniforms any day, or those of the BoSox. The Yanks, by the way, have a cross-marketing deal with MUFC, which is partially why you see all of those red-coloured Yankee caps in the UK/Europe.

BTW, my baseball team won the league, and now we are in a round robin to decide promotion. Third division, here we come!!
